Solo Travellers in Dublin City Centre

Famous for our warm and welcoming atmosphere,  The Castle Hotel is a popular choice for solo travellers visiting Dublin. We have a large number of standard and superior single rooms, and a choice of several dining options in our restaurants and tea rooms.

A particular favourite of our solo travellers is our Castle Vaults Bar which is generally exclusive to guests of the hotel, thereby offering a friendly atmosphere in secure surroundings with live music each night and Irish Dancing each weekend.   Here you can relax and enjoy an evening of traditional Irish music and entertainment in the company of fellow travellers & guests of the hotel.

We are located in the heart of Dublin City Centre close to all public transport links. Bus stops for city tours and sightseeing tours visiting some of the most picturesque scenery in Ireland including the Cliffs of Moher and the Giants Causeway are available on the doorstep.  We can even prepare a takeaway breakfast for those availing of early morning day tours. Should you prefer to bring or hire a car we also offer secure onsite private car parking.

We offer the perfect base to explore the many attractions in the area including the Hugh Lane Art Gallery adjacent to the hotel or immerse yourself in history at any of the 3 National Museums of Dublin which are all less than 30 minutes’ walk away and are all free to enter.

For nature lovers the National Botanic Gardens with over 15000 plant species is also within walking easy distance to the hotel, here you will find a calm and beautiful green space.

The Castle hotel itself dates back to 1769 and has many beautiful original Georgian features such as marble fireplaces and sweeping staircases complete with chandeliers and we are more than happy to take that Instagram worthy photo of you as a souvenir of your trip to Ireland.   You can find more details on local attractions on our Dublin Guide pages to ensure you make the most of your time in Dublin.

Dublin is a great destination for solo travellers. The city is small and most attractions are easily accessible on foot, however hop on hop off tours are also a great way to see the city especially if this is your first solo trip.

The Hugh Lane Art Gallery, Trinity College, GPO and History Museum  and James Joyce Visitor Centre are all less than 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel. Within 30 minutes’ walk you will find the Guinness Storehouse, Jameson Distillery or if you crave nature you can explore the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, an oasis of calm and beauty. If you would like to get out of the city, the dart service at the nearby Connolly Station operates a regular train service which runs along the coast of the Irish Sea from Malahide to Howth in North County Dublin heading southwards as far as Greystones. The line offers stunning scenic coastal views, take a freshly prepared picnic Afternoon Tea or packed lunch from the Old Music Shop Restaurant or visit one of the many famous seafood restaurants in the fishing town of Howth.

When the weather turns as it is prone to do, there is still plenty to do indoors. Immerse yourself in history at one of the three National Museums in Dublin – all of which are always free and they all regularly have programmes including free guided tours. Or take in a show at nearby Gate or Abbey Theatres.

Visit our comprehensive Dublin Guide for endless options to enjoy and staff are always on hand to offer advice.

At the end of a busy day, relax in the 18th Century vaulted wine cellars of the Castle Hotel with fellow guests where you can enjoy the live Irish music and entertainment & maybe a sing song, all whilst you dine on traditional Irish dishes such as Beef and Guinness Stew or tasty Bacon and Cabbage.

All menus can be altered to suit any specific or dietary requirements and you can find more information on our restaurant’s pages. An exciting solo adventure awaits you just email us at  info@castle-hotel.ie or call us on + 353 1 8746949 and let our wonderful friendly staff look after you.
