The Moving Crib at St Martin apostolate on Parnell Square is a novel display of Bible, Nativity and Christmas scenes created with puppets and moving animatronics. For young and old, the charming and entertaining scenes evoke the true meaning of Christmas. It’s a nostalgic experience and the helpful guides are happy to share biblical, historical and fun stories with you when you visit. While much of Dublin will have cribs on display in December, none feature bowing wise men, nodding donkeys and an inn keeper turning his back on Mary!
Tucked beneath a Georgian building on Parnell Square, The Moving Crib has fascinated generations of parents, their children and grandchildren since its creation in 1956. It’s FREE to visit and can take as little as 20 minutes to view all the nativity scenes.
Watch out for Santa popping out of a chimney, the selfie corner and don’t miss a beautifully festive doll’s house which was made in Cork in the 1890s.
