Deacon Blue is a Scottish pop rock band that formed in 1985 in Glasgow. Known for their catchy melodies, soulful influences, and heartfelt lyrics, the band became one of the most popular acts in the UK during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their sound blends elements of pop, rock, and soul, with a particular focus on rich vocal harmonies and well-crafted arrangements.

The band's most famous lineup includes Ricky Ross (vocals and guitar), Lorraine McIntosh (vocals), James Prime (keyboards), Dougie Vipond (drums), Ewen Vernal (bass), and Graeme Kelling (guitar). Their debut album, "Raintown" (1987),  which received critical acclaim and included their breakthrough single "Dignity". The song became an anthem and is widely considered their signature track. Despite their success, Deacon Blue disbanded in 1994 but later reunited in 1999 and have continued to release new music and tour regularly. They still maintain a loyal fanbase and have released several albums since their reunion, including The Hipsters (2006), Believers (2016), and City of Love (2020).

Deacon Blue is often celebrated for their ability to craft songs with emotional depth, appealing to both mainstream pop audiences and those who appreciate more nuanced, soulful rock music. Their work has stood the test of time, and they remain a respected name in British pop and rock.
