Burrow Beach

Burrow Beach in Sutton, (known locally as the Hole in the Wall) with views of Ireland's Eye and beautiful golden sands, is well worth a detour if you're visiting nearby Howth.

Stretching for about 1.2 kilometers, it is served by a lifeguard during the summer months and is a green flag beach.

You've come to the right beach if you're looking for sand dunes! Though it is not as long as some of Dublin's other beaches, it is a real bed of soft sand that is ideal for lounging when the sun comes out.

It's also a good beach to bring kids because of the smooth soft sand and the beach's huge width, which allows children to dig holes and build sandcastles. In the low tide, there's also plenty of beach to scavenge for seashells.

From Burrow Beach, you'll also have spectacular views of Ireland's Eye and up to Portmarnock Beach and Golf Club. Ireland's Eye is a protected nature protection area that is home to gannet, black guillemot, and great black-backed gull colonies.

If the sun is shining, the urge to jump in the water will be strong. Even though this isn't the Mediterranean, the coolness of these waters can be just as delightful! And, after a while, you become used to it.

Burrow Beach is also where you will be able to watch kite surfers and wind surfers taking to the water.
